On Lok Mun Street Playground Opening Ceremony
Apr 12, 2025

The On Lok Mun Street Playground was opened on 12 April 2025. It was designed and constructed by the Civil Engineering and Development Department, and is now managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

The Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr. Michael Fong, the Deputy Director of Leisure & Cultural Services, Ms. Winnie Chui, the District Officer (North), Mr. Derek Lai, and the Head of Planning & Development Team, Northern Metropolis Co-ordination Office, Mr. Ng Kim Wai, along with other guests, attended the opening ceremony to celebrate the reprovision of the playground.

At the ceremony, 12 professional extreme sports athletes gave impressive performances, namely skateboarding, freestyle scootering, aggressive inline skating and freestyle BMX. Skateboarding and scootering workshops were provided as part of the event so that the public could taste the fun of extreme sports at this new venue.

The original On Lok Mun Street Playground was demolished in February 2023 to facilitate the construction of the Fanling Bypass (Eastern Section). It has been relocated about 150 metres north of the original site. The new facility covers an area of over 3800 square metres, in which a skatepark of 1600 square metres features extreme sports facilities, including a bowl course and a street course. Players of different skill levels are able to practise tricks with the upgraded facilities that meet international standards. The venue has been certified by World Skate.
